St. John’s Adds Saturday Game at Fordham

The Red Storm’s weekend series against Butler as canceled earlier in the week
QUEENS, N.Y. (March 17, 2023) – Head Coach Bob Guerriero has announced that the St. John's softball team will add a Saturday matinee game at Fordham to its schedule after having its weekend series at Butler canceled due to inclement weather. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. at Bahoshy Field.
Live stats will be provided on RedStormSports.com. There will be no live stream available for the game.
Both team were originally scheduled to travel to the Midwest for weekend series, but had them canceled due to cold temperatures and inclement weather. The Red Storm canceled its weekend series against Butler on Wednesday.
St. John's won its first BIG EAST series of the season taking two of three from Providence at Red Storm Field. The Red Storm split the opening doubleheader on Friday, winning the first game, 5-2, and dropping the second game, 2-1, to the Friars. On Sunday, Cassidy Stouffer broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the seventh on a walk-off RBI single.
Carolina Zamudio earned her first career selection to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after earning a pair of wins against the Friars last weekend. The sophomore hurler compiled eight strikeouts, allowed just four hits and two earned runs in 14 innings pitched across two starts. Zamudio finished the weekend with six wins so far this season, the most on the Red Storm staff.
Fordham was originally scheduled to travel to Dayton for a three-game Atlantic 10 series. The Rams enter the weekend 6-12 after winning three of five last week in Hawaii. Fordham best run producer is Eva Koratsis with a team-high three homers and eight RBIs. In the circle, Holly Beeman bests the Rams with three wins, a 1.13 ERA, and five complete games.
The Red Storm leads the all-time series with the Rams, 15-11. St. John's is 7-6 against Fordham in the Bronx. The two schools met three times in 2021, with the Rams earning an 8-4 victory on March 24 in Queens.
St. John's will travel to Stony Brook for a midweek afternoon game at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at University Field. The Red Storm will close the week with a weekend series against DePaul starting on Friday.
