The Red Storm will finish the weekend with a doubleheader against St. Francis Brooklyn and Queens College
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The St. John's men's tennis team fell to No. 72 Yale, 4-0 at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center on Friday night.
With the loss, St. John's falls to 14-5 on the season.
The Bulldogs clinched the doubles point by winning the first two matches of the night. Diogo Marques and Axel Vila Antuna was edged 7-5 by Renaud Lefevre and Vignesh Gogineni. Sergio Molina and Giuseppe De Camelis dropped to Aidan Reilly and Theo Dean, 6-3.
In singles play, Marques forced three sets in the top spot against Theo, before the match was deemed unfinished. He dropped the first set 6-1, before taking the second set, 7-5. DeCamelis was edged by Eric Li, 6-4, 6-4. Ryota Kaneda fell to Walker Oberg, 6-3, 6-2. Gogineni rounded out the Bulldogs victory with a 6-3, 6-2 win against Molina.
St. John's returns to action with a pair of matches at the Courts at St. John's on Sunday. The Red Storm will host St. Francis Brooklyn at 10 a.m. before squaring off against Queens College at 2 p.m.
