Men’s Tennis Concludes BIG EAST Slate with 7-0 Sweep at Marquette

The Red Storm finishes conference play with a 3-0 record
MILWAUKEE – The St. John's men's tennis team swept Marquette, 7-0, on Friday night at Marquette at the Elite Sports Club – North Shore.
With the win, the Red Storm concludes its BIG EAST slate with a perfect 3-0 record and is 15-5 on the season.
The Red Storm won a pair of 6-2 decisions in the first two doubles matches to claim the doubles point. This week's BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week, Diogo Marques and Ryota Kaneda, notched their second conference victory of the season with a 6-2 win against Rami Scheetz and Stefan Dragovic in the top slot. The Johnnies clinched the point on another 6-2 win by the tandem of Nishant Dabas and Carl Gustafsson. The duo knocked off Tim Krstulovic and Blake Roegner to secure the first point of the match.
In singles play, all four doubles winners won their second match of the day. All six Johnnies match wins came via straight sets. Sergio Molina earned his 13th win of the season with a 6-4, 6-4 triumph over Thomas Nelson. In the top spot for the Johnnies, Marques won his sixth-straight match, 6-4, 6-4 against Dragovic. Gustafsson and Kaneda notched their 12th victories of the season. Gustafsson knocked off Scheetz, 6-3, 6-3, and Kaneda edged Guilherme Da Matta, 6-1, 7-5. Nishant Dabas won his 11th match, with a 6-2, 7-6 win against Krstulovic. Giuseppe de Camelis recorded a 6-2, 6-0, defeat of Brady for his fifth win this season and first at the No. 5 spot.
St. John's will conclude the regular season portion of its schedule next week with a pair of contests against Monmouth and Fordham. The Johnnies will travel to Monmouth on Wednesday and host Fordham on Sunday.
