Seton Hall (19-11, 8-3 BIG EAST) clinched its third series victory of the season with the second win of the weekend against the Red Storm (13-16, 4-4 BIG EAST).
Anese Thompson extended her on-base streak to seven games reaching on a hit by pitch in the sixth inning.
In the bottom of the first inning, the Pirates struck first on an RBI-double off the wall in the center by Shelby Smith. St. John's starter Carolina Zamudio held Smith at second to end the Pirates scoring threat.
