QUEENS, N.Y. – After producing stellar 2023 campaigns for the Red Storm, graduate student Aaron Mann and redshirt junior David Glancy have secured spots on the All-BIG EAST Second Team, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
A revelation for the Johnnies throughout the 2023 campaign, Mann became a staple in the cleanup spot with his team-leading .371 batting average, 69 hits, 47 runs scored and 15 doubles. The Red Storm first baseman also chipped in six homers and 42 RBIs in 49 games played before seeing his season come to an end in Friday night's contest against Butler due to injury. He wrapped his final collegiate season with 22 multi-hit games and 12 multi-RBI slates, including a 3-for-3 showing with six RBIs against Quinnipiac on March 19 to earn conference Player of the Week honors.
Mann continued to dominate against BIG EAST opponents, boasting a .324/.420/.529 slash line while amassing 13 runs and 19 RBIs. The Little Rock, Ark., native put forth his best effort in conference play against Villanova, earning a BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll nod after going 3-for-3 at the dish with a trio of two-baggers, four runs scored and four RBIs in the series finale. His three doubles were the most in a game since Rudy Aguilar against Kansas on March 17, 2019.
Glancy picked up his first postseason accolade after setting career highs in 2023 with 13 homers, 14 doubles, 32 walks and 46 runs scored. The Neptune, N.J., native wrapped up his fourth season in Queens slashing .284/.411/.597 with 37 RBIs, which ranked third on the team. The Johnnies' outfielder tied Ryan Mahoney and his 13 home runs in 2007 for the sixth-most long balls in a single season. During his tenure in Queens, Glancy has amassed 29 career home runs, tying Mike Dzurilla (1997-99) for fourth all-time.
During conference play alone, Glancy went off with a team-best 25 hits, 24 runs scored and matched Mann with 19 RBIs. He logged eight of his 15 multi-hit games in 2023 against league opponents. In addition, Glancy became the only Johnnie this season to tally five or more RBIs in a conference game, posting five against Georgetown on April 29 and six against Butler on May 18. The Red Storm's leader in runs scored also crossed home plate five times against the Bulldogs, the most in a game since Jamie Galazin against UConn in 2018. He also picked up an Honor Roll selection in the final week of the season against Butler, alongside Jackson Tucker and Ben Adams. Slashing .364/.563/1.273, the Neptune, N.J. native went off with eight runs scored, eight RBIs and three home runs.
