Red Storm holds an 8-4-3 all-time record over the Tigers
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's soccer team will look to bounce back when the Johnnies visit Princeton on Tuesday in a 7 p.m. match from Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium.
Tuesday's contest will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats can be found on RedStormSports.com.
Despite a tough 2-1 setback at UConn to open BIG EAST play, St. John's unloaded 11 of its 14 total shots in the second half with prime opportunities spread across the final 45. Nicolas Fleuriau Chateau earned his team-leading fifth goal of the season, punching home the Johnnies' lone tally of the contest in the 61st minute off a brilliant cross from Connor Mucchetti.
Fleuriau Chateau is tied for the BIG EAST lead in goals with Marquette's Brooklyn Merl and sits 17th in the nation. The Canadian striker and his attacking partner Max McNulty are tied for 20th in NCAA Division I with 11 points apiece.
Miguel Diaz has been dishing the ball well through seven games, tying Providence's Pearse O'Brien and ranking 14th in the country with four assists. Midfielder Macoumba Ba is also among the nation's best with his two game-winners, good for eighth.
The Johnnies and Tigers will square off for the 16th time in program history with the Red Storm holding an 8-4-3 record. St. John's has had success in New Jersey, boasting a 4-1-2 record while winning two of its last three meetings.
The Red Storm has won three straight games against Princeton since 2021, picking up 1-0 victories in its regular season road matchup on Sept. 28 and in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Nov. 18. In its most recent meeting, St. John's utilized an eventual 55th-minute game-winner from Wesley Leggett to knock off the Tigers, 2-1, at Belson on Sept. 27, 2022.
The Tigers enter Tuesday's contest with a 1-2-0 record with both setbacks coming against ranked opponents, No. 3 Duke and No. 21 New Hampshire. Princeton's lone win came against Rutgers in the team's season opener, taking the Sept. 1 contest, 2-1, behind goals from Daniel Ittycheria and Nico Nee.
Goalkeeper Khamari Hadaway has faced an onslaught in the box, turning away a combined 19 shots through three games for 6.3 saves per game, good for fifth in the nation.
