Former collegiate player arrives with seven years of coaching experience
QUEENS, N.Y. – St. John's Lacrosse Head Coach Justin Turri announced the hiring of David Drozjock as the team's newest assistant coach on Friday.
Drozjock arrives in Queens with a wide array of coach experience over seven years, making stops at Williams, Vassar, Wagner, Ithaca and perennial high school powerhouse Seton Hall Prep.
"David brings with him a wealth of experience across multiple championship-level programs, including most recently as offensive coordinator in the toughest conference in Division III lacrosse while at Williams," said Turri. "His fit within our staff was immediately noticeable and he has hit the ground running since his start."
Drozjock arrives to Queens following a one-year stint as the offensive coordinator at Williams College. During his tenure in Williamstown, Mass., he helped the Ephs to a winning record including three victories over nationally-ranked programs. The program spent five weeks ranked inside the top-20, reaching as high as 17th in the country.
Prior to his time at Williams, Drozjock was the offensive and recruiting coordinator at Vassar College from 2021-2023. As a member of the Brewers' coaching staff, the Wayne, N.J., native helped the team set the single-season program records for goals scored (154) and wins (seven) in 2023.
Bringing a diverse background in coaching to St. John's, Drozjock has also coached at the high school level, serving as an assistant at Seton Hall Prep from 2020-2021. He helped guide the Pirates to a 2021 Essex County Championship and a top-10 national ranking.
For two seasons, Drozjock served as an assistant at Wagner in Staten Island 2018-20. During his tenure with the Seahawks, he focused on offensive and clearing gameplans and worked specifically with the faceoff unit.
His first role on the sidelines was at his alma mater, Ithaca College, serving as a volunteer assistant in 2017-18. While with the nationally-ranked Bombers, Drozjock worked with the faceoff unit and assisted with the offense.
In his first and only season playing for Ithaca in 2016, the attackman put up 13 goals and seven assists while collecting 16 groundballs in 16 games played. The Bombers reached as high as No. 1 in the country that season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals. While injured for his senior season in 2017, he was named the Empire 8 Conference Sportsman of the Year.
Drozjock began his collegiate career at Montclair State, where he appeared in 11 games as a faceoff specialist winning 55.2 percent of his draws at the "X".
A four-year varsity starter at Wayne Valley High School from 2010-14, he was a captain for two seasons and won the Passaic County Championship twice. He also was a three-year starter on the varsity football team and was awarded the Passaic County Scholar-Athlete Award.
Drozjock earned his bachelor's degree in business with a concentration in marketing from Ithaca in 2018. He went on to earn a master's degree of business administration from Wagner in 2020.
The newest addition to Coach Turri's staff currently resides in his hometown of Wayne, N.J.
