Leyre Campo de Quevedo and Ezgi Yasar to Compete in the NCAA Cross Country Northeast Regional

Yasar will compete in the NCAA Northeast Regional for the second straight year
QUEENS, N.Y. – After finishing up the BIG EAST Cross Country Championship two weeks ago, Leyre Campo de Quevedo and Ezgi Yasar will compete in the NCAA Cross Country Northeast Regional on Friday. The 6K race will begin at 11 a.m. from the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds Cross Country Course in Hopkinton, N.H.
The NCAA Northeast Regional will be hosted by UMass Lowell.
Last year, St. John's finished in 32nd place at the NCAA Regional, while Ezgi Yasar paced the Red Storm with a personal-best 22:19.8 6K finishing time. Five other Johnnies joined Yasar in posting personal-record efforts.
Leyre Campo de Quevedo will look to continue her monstrous freshman campaign in her first career appearance in the NCAA Northeast Regional. The Spain native is most recently coming off a 58th-place result on a 6K time of 22:58.07, in her first-ever BIG EAST Championship.
The freshman has put together an eye-opening campaign, highlighted by being named the Individual Metropolitan Champion on Oct. 12. The BIG EAST Female Athlete of the Week has led the Red Storm in all of its meets this season.
Yasar will make her second career appearance at the NCAA Northeast Regional on Friday. At the BIG EAST Championships, the junior earned a 23:03.03 mark for 64th place overall and second on St. John's.
