St. John’s Readies for Matchups against Campbell and UNCW

Red Storm will finish its five-match road trip with two contests in North Carolina
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's tennis team will conclude its season-long five-match road trip with two matches this week in North Carolina. On Wednesday, the Red Storm will face off with Campbell in Buies Creek, N.C. before traveling to Wilmington, N.C., on Friday for a showdown with UNC Wilmington. Both matches will start at 2 p.m.
The Red Storm (3-3) is coming off a setback last Friday against Rutgers, 4-0.
In singles play, St. John's has been led by Alicia Gomez, who has three wins on the No. 3 court this season. Noemi Babikova, Mouna Bouzgarrou, Arina Gumerova and Nicoline Sartz-Lunde have each picked up two victories in solo play.
In doubles action, Bouzgarrou and Gumerova have teamed up for a pair of wins on the No. 1 court. Babikova and Gomez are 2-0 on the No. 2 court.
Wednesday's match will be the first in program history against Campbell. The Fighting Camels are 5-4 this season and are coming off of a road loss to East Carolina, 6-1.
UNCW and St. John's will faceoff for the first time since 2008 when the Johnnies earned a 5-2 decision against the Seahawks in Norfolk, Va. UNCW is a perfect 4-0 in 2024, most recently downing Towson on the road, 6-1.
Following this week's matchups, the Red Storm will return to Queens for the first time since Feb. 9 for a matchup with Monmouth. First serve from the USTA National Tennis Center is set for noon.
