No. 62 St. John’s Gets Set to Face No. 66 Yale on Wednesday

The Red Storm will compete for the first time in two weeks
Following a two-week intermission, the No. 62 St. John's men's tennis team will return to action on Wednesday against No. 66 Yale. First serve from the Cullman-Hyman Tennis Center in New Haven, Conn., is set for 5 p.m.
The Red Storm (12-3, 1-0 BIG EAST) picked up its first conference win of the season against Creighton on March 6., 5-2. The Johnnies earned the team doubles point after Leon Petko and Ignacio Vinas picked up their first win on the No. 1 court as a pair and Martin Bugaj and Armando Sotelo were victorious on the No. 3 court.
Singles victories from Sotelo, Danilo Raicevic, Carl Gustavsson and Ryota Kaneda closed out the 11th victory of the season for the Red Storm.
Kaneda leads St. John's with 12 singles triumphs this season while Gustavsson has emerged victorious in 10 matches. The junior from Stockholm, Sweden is also 3-0 when competing on the No. 1 singles court. Raicevic improved to 8-1 on the season with his win against Creighton.
In doubles action, Vinas and Petko lead the Johnnies with an 8-3 record as a pair. Leonardo Mileikowsky and Francisco Bascón have four victories together this season.
Yale enters Wednesday's match 7-6 in 2024 and has dropped its last three matches. The Bulldogs are coming off a 4-2 defeat on the road to UCSB on March 14. Yale started off the year by winning its first four matches, including picking up a 7-0 sweep over Purdue on Feb. 4.
Following Wednesday's tilt against the Bulldogs, the Red Storm will return to action on March 24 in Annapolis, Md., to face Navy. First serve from the Tose Family Tennis Center is set for 1:30 p.m.
