The Red Storm will be back in action to face Navy on Sunday
WEST HAVEN, CONN. – The No. 62 St. John's men's tennis team fell at No. 66 Yale on Wednesday in West Haven, Conn., 4-1.
The Red Storm (12-4, 1-0 BIG EAST) won the first two doubles matches to claim the team point but the Bulldogs took the first four singles matches to earn the victory.
In doubles action, Martin Bugaj and Armando Sotelo took down Aidan Reilly and Teo Dean 6-4, and Adam Groves and Ryota Kaneda defeated Walker Oberg and Eric Li, 6-4, to take the doubles point for the Johnnies.
Bugaj and Sotelo improved to 2-0 this season as a pair while Groves and Kaneda also picked up their second win together on the doubles court.
In singles play, Yale won the first four matches to clinch the 4-1 win over the Johnnies. On the No. 5 court, Sotelo's match with Roee Benya was tied at one set a piece before the match was ultimately deemed unfinished in the third set.
Yale improves to 8-6 with the victory.
The Red Storm will return to action on Sunday to take on Navy in Annapolis, Md. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m.
