St. John’s Fencing Places Seventh at NCAA Championships

The Red Storm wrapped up the 2023-24 campaign at the NCAA Championships in Columbus
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The men wrapped up competition to close out the 2023-24 campaign at the NCAA Championships on Sunday.
The Red Storm finished the championships in seventh place for the third consecutive year. Harvard was crowned national champions for the first time since 2006.
After the women concluded their part of the competition on Friday, the men hit the strips on Saturday and Sunday.
Paul Fortin was the top men's finisher, placing eighth in the men's epee. Fortin notched a 15-8 record. The championship marked Fortin's second consecutive appearance on the national stage after placing fifth last year.
Freshman Daniil Mazur joined Fortin in representing the Red Storm in the men's epee competition. Mazur finished his debut in the championships in 20th place with eight triumphs.
In the men's saber, St. John's was represented by Ahmed Ferjani for the third consecutive year. Ferjani placed 11th for the second straight year with 11 wins between the two days.
