The Red Storm holds a 65-12 all-time record over the Pride
QUEENS, N.Y. – Fresh off its second straight victory, the St. John's baseball team will look to continue its winning ways with its three-game series against Hofstra beginning on Friday. Due to inclement weather this weekend, The Red Storm and Pride will face off in a doubleheader on Friday and a single game on Saturday with both slated to start at 2 p.m.

St. John's rolled past Iona, 14-1, in its midweek matchup after a six-RBI performance from sophomore catcher Jimmy Keenan. The White Plains, N.Y., native fell a home run shy of the cycle, going 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and a run scored in the contest. Chris Batuyios earned his first collegiate victory in a designated bullpen day, going three innings and surrendering one unearned run on two hits with a pair of strikeouts. Relievers AJ Lausten, Chad Falcon and Chuck Sanzio combined to toss six scoreless frames, allowing just three hits over the final two-thirds of the game.
Anthony Brienza, along with Garrett Scavelli, both enter the weekend slate with a nine-game reached base safely streak. Brienza has been crucial in the nine-spot of the Red Storm lineup this season, logging hits in seven straight games. The Marlboro, N.J., native has also scored in seven of the team's first nine games.

Third baseman Blake Mayberry went 3-for-5 with three runs in the team's five-run victory on March 8. Veteran Marty Higgins drove in four runs while logging three base knocks.
Hofstra is fresh off a four-game split with New Mexico, earning a 10-9 victory on Friday, followed by a 16-15 slugfest in 10 innings in the first game of its doubleheader on Saturday. Alex McCoy went 4-for-6 at the dish with a team-high five RBIs in the extra-inning affair, while Santino Rosso posted a five-hit day to go with four RBIs and three runs scored. Dylan Palmer also chipped in two RBIs and four tallies in his four-hit outing against the Lobos.
Palmer is one of the nation's top offensive players, ranking fourth in Division I with a .548 batting average, ninth with a .623 on-base percentage, 11th with 23 hits and 24th with eight steals. The sophomore is also tied for the team lead in runs scored (15) with Rosso.
As a team, the Pride sits 26th in Division I in batting average (.322) and 27th in stolen bases (27). The team's 8.4 runs per game also ranks second in the CAA. While Hofstra has been successful offensively, the team has struggled on the mound with a 10.95 ERA, the 11th highest in the nation.
