Cross Country Announces 2024 Schedule

The Red Storm are slated to race in six total meets across five states
QUEENS, N.Y. – St. John's Cross Country Head Coach Elliott Blount announced the team's 2024 fall schedule schedule on Wednesday.
The Johnnies' slate features six meets including the BIG EAST Cross Country Championship Presented by JEEP on Nov. 1. The Red Storm will race in five different states during the 2024 season.
St. John's will open the season taking the short trek to Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y., for the Iona Meet of Champions on Friday, Sept. 13. The Johnnies will compete in Iona's annual home meet for the first time since 2022, when Ezgi Yasar paced the team with a 19:19.00 finish in her 5K debut.
Following a two-week break, the Red Storm will head to Boston for the Battle in Beantown for the third straight season on Friday, Sept. 27. Four Johnnies recorded personal-best finishes at the meet in 2023.
On Saturday, Oct. 12, St. John's will look to defend its title at the Metropolitan Cross Country Championships at Branch Brook Park in Newark, N.J. Last year, the Red Storm claimed its first Metropolitan Championship title in program history behind a third-place 17:44.93 finish from Claire Cushing.
The following Friday, the Johnnies will head back to Van Cortlandt Park for the 2024 ECAC Cross Country Championships on Oct. 18. St. John's last competed against the best of the Northeast during the 2022 campaign.
The Red Storm will take on its conference foes in the 2024 BIG EAST Cross Country Championship Presnted by JEEP on Friday, Nov. 1 in Leesburg, Va. Cushing paced the squad with a personal-record 6K time of 21:57.68 at the event last season.
The NCAA Northeast Regional will be held in Hopkinton, N.H. on Saturday, Nov. 9 if any individuals qualify. The NCAA Cross Country Championship will be held 14 days later on Nov. 23 at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course in Verona, Wis.
Blount is entering his fourth season at the helm of the St. John's cross country program. During his tenure, the team has logged five top-three finishes, including a Metropolitan Championship title during his first three seasons with the Red Storm.
