St. John's Cross Country Places Fourth at Metropolitan Championships

Naiara Garcia recorded a top-five finish at Branch Brook Park
NEWARK, N.J. - The St. John's cross country program captured a fourth place finish at the 2025 Metropolitan Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning.
The result from Branch Brook Park in Newark marked the fifth consecutive year that Head Coach Elliot Blount has guided the team to a top four finish. The Red Storm recorded a season-low 126 points as five Johnnies set a new career-best time in the 5k.
Sophomore Naiara Garcia and freshman Attoya Harvey placed in the top 15 in a field of 75 competitors. Garcia's placed fifth overall, marking the best placement of her career, finishing with a new personal best 17:47.5, shaving more than two minutes off her previous career-low time. Harvey's 15th place time of 18:25.0 was also a personal record, cutting more than two minutes off her previous best.
Ana Dobsa was just one second shy of her personal-best, stopping the clock in 19:18.3 for her fastest time of the season.
Senior Brenin Mahon impressed with lowering her personal record by over 1:30, completing Saturday's 5k in 19:43.9.
In their St. John's cross country debut senior Leilani Robinson and freshman Sarafina Scavo, finished with times of 20:28.1 and 20:39.9 respectively.
Freshman Mia Torres rounded out the race for the Red Storm with a personal best time of 22:59.7.
St. John's now turns its attention to the ECAC Cross Country Championships next weekend in the Bronx at Van Cortlandt Park.
