St. John’s Continues Road Stint at Quinnipiac on Tuesday

Red Storm and Bobcats will tip-off at 5 p.m. on ESPN+
QUEENS, N.Y.– The St. John's women's basketball team (1-1, 0-0 BIG EAST) will continue its road swing when it travels to Quinnipiac (1-1, 0-0 MAAC) for a 5 p.m. tip-off on Veterans Day.
The Red Storm and Bobcats will tip-off from M&T Bank Arena meeting for the first time in 13 years. Tuesday night's contest will be streamed on ESPN+ with Steve Lennox, Billy Mecca and Diane Nolan on the call from Hamden, Conn. Live stats will be available at RedStormSports.com.
The Johnnies will look to bounce back after a setback on Friday night at Harvard, 61-56, during its first road contest of the season. St. John's rallied back from a double-digit second half deficit climbing within a single-point on three separate occasions during the closing minutes but ultimately at Lavietes Pavilion.
Shaulana Wagner led all scorers on Friday night finishing one point shy of her career-high totaling 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting, seven rebounds and three assists in Cambridge. One of the nation's assists leader out of Troy, Wagner has made an early impact on both ends of the floor logging 10.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game.
Janeya Grant has found her shooting stroke to start her sophomore campaign. The 6-foot guard has tied last season's 3-pointer mark (5) just two games into the campaign. The Middletown, Conn., native is knotted for the team lead logging 12.0 points per game. Grant went for a career-best 15 points in the loss at Harvard shooting 6-for-11 from the floor.
Brooke Moore is tied for the early lead as the Johnnies' scoring leader logging 12.0 points per game after setting a new career-high of 15 points in her Red Storm debut against Le Moyne on Nov. 3. In addition to her offensive prowess, the Kennesaw, Ga., product has posted 8.0 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game. After setting a new personal best in consecutive contests, the Liberty transfer ranks second in NCAA Division I averaging 4.5 swats per game. On Friday night, Moore rejected five shots marking the highest total by a Red Storm player since Rayven Peeples tallied five in a victory at DePaul on Jan. 21, 2023.
After finishing the 2024-25 campaign ranked in the bottom-30 in the country and last in the BIG EAST in blocks per game, the Johnnies have emerged as a shot-blocking force in early November. The Red Storm rank third in NCAA Division I tallying 9.5 swats per game with six different players logging rejections during opening week. During the road test at Harvard, St. John's registered 12 blocks, the highest total for the program since Dec. 1, 2020 when it shattered the program record tallying 16 in a win over Saint Peter's, 85-47.
Through two games, the Johnnies received 34.0 points off their bench accounting for 54.8% of their offensive production. Grant and Moore have both produce offensively leading the team in scoring as part of the reserve unit. Daniela Abies began her Red Storm career with a 10-point, 15-rebound double-double coming off the bench.
The Johnnies and Bobcats will meet for just the third time and the first since the 2012-13 campaign. St. John's claimed the last contest downing Quinnipiac, 76-66, on Nov. 20, 2013. In its last trip to Hamden, the Bobcats prevailed, 75-72, as the series sits tied 1-1.
Quinnipiac enters Tuesday's home opener with a 1-1 record, following a setback at Rutgers in a 55-64 decision. The Bobcats opened the 2025-26 season with a 64-55 win over Boston University.
The Bobcats are coming off a 28-5 campaign in 2024-25 and a WBIT appearance and return nine players from last year's squad.
