St. John’s Releases 2025-26 Track and Field Schedule

The Red Storm will host three meets during the indoor and outdoor seasons
QUEENS, N.Y. – St. John's Director of Track and Field Aliann Pompey has released the schedule for the 2025-26 indoor and outdoor seasons.
The four-time Olympian and former NCAA champion is entering her fifth season at the helm of the Red Storm. The Johnnies will compete in at least 11 indoor meets and 10 outdoor meets.
Over the course of the indoor and outdoor campaigns, the Johnnies are slated to compete in nine meets in Staten Island, Manhattan and Queens, including one home meet in the winter and two home meets in the spring. St. John's is returning its All-American Honorable Mention thrower Jamora Alves and World Athletics Championship qualifier Nora Haugen, while adding six newcomers to the roster.
To kick off the indoor season, St. John's will host the Youree Spence Garcia Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y. At last year's meet, seven Johnnies recorded podium performances.
The following week, a portion of the squad will compete at the Wagner Seahawk Shootout on Friday, Dec. 12, back at Ocean Breeze.
After the winter break, the Red Storm start the new year at the Dr. Sanders Scorcher from Jan. 23-24. The two-day event will take place at the Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory in Washington Heights, N.Y.
On Jan. 30, the team will participate in the 2026 Metropolitan Indoor Track and Field Championship, and the following day a portion of the squad will compete in the historic 118th Millrose Games.
On Feb. 7, a number of student-athletes are slated to compete in the Big Apple Classic at Ocean Breeze, while the rest of the group heads up to Boston to participate in the 2026
ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championship hosted by Boston University.
From Feb. 13-14, Pompey and company return to Boston for a pair of meets at the Harvard Crimson Invite and the BU Valentine Invitational.
After wrapping up the regular season in Staten Island at the Fasttrack Last Chance Invitational on Feb. 20, St. John's ventures to the Midwest for the BIG EAST Indoor Track and Field
Championships presented by JEEP at the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track and Field Center in Chicago, Ill. The Red Storm secured six podium finishes and scored 93 points to take third place at last year's conference championship. The result tied the program's highest finish at the championship meet.
Should any Johnnies qualify, the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held from March 13-14. Student-athletes must achieve one of the top 16 marks in the country in their event during the regular season, while relay teams must be among the top 12 ranked squads to participate. The championship is set to be held at the renowned Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark.
The outdoor season kicks off with the first of two trips to the Sunshine State. St. John's will appear at the USF Alumni Invitational in Tampa, Fla., from March 20-21, hosted by the University of South Florida.
The Red Storm return north to host their first of two home outdoor meets. The Big Hurt takes place on March 28 at the DaSilva Track and Field Complex in Queens. At last year's competition, the Johnnies finished atop the podium in all field events and five running events.
On April 3, St. John's ventures over to Randall's Island to compete in the Metropolitan Outdoor Track and Field Championship. Last season, the Red Storm secured the team title with 179 points and a 30.5-point margin of victory. Eight student-athletes earned event wins, accompanied by four silver finishes and two bronze.
After heading back to Tampa for the South Florida Invite on April 11, the squad will split between the ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships and the UConn Northeast Challenge.
The following weekend, the squad will participate in the longest-running track and field meet in the United States at the 130th Penn Relays from April 23-25. A season ago, Alves posted a personal best and Grenada national record in the discus throw with a toss of 54.33m.
St. John's will split its squad one final time on May 2, as a portion of student-athletes travel to Princeton, N.J., to compete at the Larry Ellis Invitational. The rest of the group remains in Queens for the final home meet of the season, the Tom Farrell Classic.
The BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championships presented by JEEP takes place from May 14-16 in Storrs, Conn., at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex. With a third-place finish and 143 total points last season, the Johnnies collected 12 podium finishes and three event wins. Alves was named the Most Outstanding Field Athlete after winning the discus and placing second in the shot put.
Should any student-athletes qualify, the 2026 NCAA East First Round will take place in Lexington, Ky., from May 27-30. The 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships will be held from June 10-13, at the historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
