Men’s Tennis Set for Dragon Invite This Weekend

Red Storm to conclude fall competition in Philadelphia
QUEENS, N.Y. — The St. John's men's tennis team will wrap up its fall campaign this weekend at the Dragon Invite at Drexel University.
The Johnnies are slated to compete against student-athletes from Drexel, Villanova, Temple, Delaware and Monmouth.
The Red Storm wrapped up a strong showing at the ITA Northeast Regionals in Princeton, N.J. on Oct 16-2 where the team captured 11 total victories over four days of competition on the Princeton University Tennis Courts. Doubles pairings Mats Pottbecker and Sergej Zivkovic, along with Semen Agynskyy and Venedikt Tsirikidze, led the way for St. John's, each advancing to the Round of 16.
In singles action, Armando Sotelo delivered an impressive performance, earning three victories and advancing to the Round of 32 after securing back-to-back wins in the qualifying rounds.
For the third straight year, the Johnnies are set to compete at the Dragon Invite. In last year's event, St. John's delivered a dominant performance, earning 25 victories across three days of action. Adam Groves led the charge with a strong showing, collecting three wins, including two in doubles play.
Following this weekend's competition, St. John's will start its dual match play in January. The schedule will be released on a later date.
