St. John’s to Kick Off BIG EAST Play Against Georgetown

The Red Storm are set to host the Hoyas for a three-game series in Queens
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's softball team is ready to begin BIG EAST play when it welcomes Georgetown to Queens for a three-game set this weekend.
The series will open at 2 p.m. on Friday. Due to forecasted inclement weather on Sunday, the two teams will play the final two games on Saturday at noon and approximately 2 p.m. All three games will be streamed on FloSports, and LiveStats are available on Red StormSports.com.
St. John's comes into the weekend with a 17-8-1 record after opening play at Red Storm Field by taking down Iona, 6-1, on Wednesday. The Johnnies scored in four of the six innings and tallied 10 hits to secure the win in their home opener. The Red Storm have won 15 of its last 17 contests dating back to its Feb. 16 matchup with Loyola-Chicago and is currently on a three-game winning streak.
St. John's has been led by its pitching staff to open the season, ranking second in the country with 9.05 strikeouts per seven innings. The staff is led by juniors Ana Serafinko and Loreley Francia who have combined to punchout 207 batters in 2025.
Francia picked up her 10th win inside the circle against the Gaels on Wednesday. The Spring, Texas product allowed just one hit across five scoreless innings while striking out nine batters to secure the victory. Francia holds a team-low ERA of 1.28 and has 103 strikeouts in 82.1 innings pitched.
On Monday, Serafinko was tabbed to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after a stellar weekend in Jacksonville, Fla. The left-hander went 2-0 inside the circle with a 1.05 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 13.1 innings pitched. Serafinko holds a 2.45 ERA and has racked up 104 punchouts entering this weekend.
Elanna Lysiak put together a career day in the home opener against Iona, going 4-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs at Red Storm Field. The Wheatfield, N.Y., product blasted a three-run homer in the opening frame before sending a solo shot over the center-field wall in the fifth inning. Lysiak paces the squad with four homers and ranks second with 19 RBIs.
London Jarrard and Jess Bianco continued to be threats on the basepaths against Iona, with both of them reaching all four times and coming around to score twice. Jarrard tallied a pair of base hits, increasing her team-high batting average to .439. Bianco swiped three bags and notched a hit, bringing her total to 18 stolen bases and 36 hits on the season.
Georgetown enters its second weekend of BIG EAST play with an even 8-8 record and a 0-3 mark in conference play. The Hoyas opened league play against Seton Hall last weekend, falling in all three contests in South Orange, N.J.
Six batters are batting over .300 in the Georgetown lineup to start the year, including Abby Kozo, who leads the squad with 18 hits and a .360 average. Dayanara Campos leads the Hoyas with four home runs and 14 RBIs in 2025. The junior was tabbed to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on March 3 after batting .400 with two doubles and a homer during the Liberty Softball Invitational.
St. John's and Georgetown have met on 35 previous occasions, with the Red Storm carrying a 23-12 all-time advantage into this weekend. The Johnnies have dominated the series at its home confines of Red Storm Field, holding an 11-3 record against the Hoyas.
Last season, St. John's dropped the opening contest to Georgetown before taking the final two games of the series in Washington D.C. Jarrard made her presence felt in last year's series, drilling two home runs in the first two games of the weekend.
