The Red Storm extended its winning streak to six games and have won 10 of its last 11 contests
The Red Storm have now won 10 of its last 11 contests after going 9-1 the past two weekends in Georgia and at Winthrop's Garnet and Gold Tournament.
Ana Serafinko led the offense with three hits in the contest and came around to score twice. The two-way player also entered the circle in relief to pick up the save, tossing 3.1 scoreless innings while punching out five batters. On offense, Serafinko is now batting .333 with one homer and five RBIs on the season.
Seven different Johnnies tallied RBIs, led by Jess Bianco, who notched two. The centerfielder recorded a pair of hits against the Bucs to improve her team-high batting average to .448 and has recorded eight RBIs this year.
London Jarrard finished with two doubles on the afternoon, bringing home one run. The senior is hitting .406 with eight doubles, two home runs and 22 RBIs in 2025.
Natalie Casto and Elanna Lysiak each totaled two hits in the contest as well. The pair also drove in a run each.
ETSU (4-11) jumped out to an early lead, loading the bases with no outs in the top of the first and Makayla Veglia produced an RBI groundout to give the Bucs a 1-0 lead. Starting pitcher Jailynn Banda limited the damage, recording the next two outs to strand runners at second and third.
The Red Storm also loaded the bases in the bottom of the first with a Jarrard double, Cassidy Stouffer walk, and Ana Serafinko single. However, ETSU's starter Eden Muncy got out of the jam to hold the Bucs' one-run lead after an inning of play.
After Banda tossed a scoreless top of the second, Melanie Santos and Casto led off the latter half of the frame with a walk and a single. The two runners then advanced on a wild pitch before Bianco brought home Santos on a sacrifice fly to right field to even the score at 1-1. Jarrard then hit her second double in as many innings, plating Casto and giving the Red Storm a 2-1 lead.
Banda sat the Bucs down 1-2-3 in the top of the third before the St. John's offense went on the attack again, loading the bases with no outs behind a pair of singles by Serafinko and Lysiak along with a Celia Macari walk. Santos then hit a sacrifice fly to center, allowing Serafinko to cross the plate, 3-1. Casto followed up with a base hit up the middle to give the Johnnies a three-run edge, 4-1. After ETSU recorded the second out of the inning, Bianco bunted for a single to drive home the third run of the inning, 5-1.
The Bucs cracked the run column again in the top of the fourth, plating three runs to cut into St. John's lead, 5-4. Serafinko then entered the circle in relief of Banda, striking out the final out to hold the one-run advantage.
Serafinko held on to the St. John's lead, tossing a scoreless fifth and sixth to keep the score at 5-4.
The Johnnies added insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth when Lysiak hit an RBI double and Macari grounded out to bring home Stouffer and Serafinko, who walked and singled to open the frame, 7-4. Anese Thompson and Casto then drew a pair of walks to load the bases for Sabrina Seaton hit a fly ball to right field for a sacrifice fly, 8-4.
Serafinko sealed the win in the top of the seventh, recording a 1-2-3 inning to give the Red Storm an 8-4 victory.
St. John's will continue its spring break trip when it heads down to northern Florida to take on Mercer and Jacksonville on Thursday.
