St. John’s Finishes Fifth at the NCAA Championships

The Red Storm competed to a fifth-place finish overall and placed third in the men’s competition
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – St. John's fencing wrapped up its time at the 2025 NCAA Championships on the campus of Penn State on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Storm completed the championships by placing fifth overall, including an impressive third-place finish in the men's competition. Fifth place marks the Johnnies' highest finish since the 2021 season when it also took home fifth.
The women took the national stage in the final two days of the championships with Julia Cieslar, Antonina Lachman and Catinca Dumitru representing St. John's.
Cieslar made her fourth appearance on the national stage to wrap up her senior season, placing 13th by racking up 10 wins in the women's saber. Dumitru joined Cieslar in the women's saber competition, totaling seven triumphs to finish in 19th place.
In the women's foil, Lachman made her debut in the NCAA Championships, competing to 23rd place with four victories.
On Friday, freshman Darii Lukashenko made history for St. John's, winning its 26th individual National Title when he took home the crown in the men's saber competition. Fellow freshman Vlad Covaliu and Samuel Imrek found the podium as well, both tying for third in the men's saber and epee, respectively.
