The Johnnies are 17-2 for the first time in program history
QUEENS, N.Y. – The No. 54 St. John's men's tennis team will return home following a three-match road trip to face Temple on Sunday. First serve from the St. John's Outdoor Tennis Courts is set for 12 p.m.
The Johnnies (17-2, 3-0) picked up a convincing 5-2 triumph over No. 46 Yale last Saturday in Rhode Island, earning their first ranked win of the season.
Ryota Kaneda and Adam Groves have paced the Johnnies in doubles action, playing to a 14-1 record so far this season as a duo. After winning two straight as a pair against Monmouth and Yale, Max Amling and Armando Sotelo were tabbed the BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week, while Leonardo MIleikowsky and Ignacio Vinas have also impressed when paired up, winning six contests in dual-match play in 2025.
In solo play, the Johnnies have been led by Kaneda and Mileikowsky, who are 13-1 and 11-3, respectively. St. John's has also received strong performances from Amling, who is 10-5, and Vinas, who has won 10 of his 14 contests. All 14 of Amling's solo contests have come on the No. 1 singles court.
The Owls have won five straight and are 9-6 overall. Last time out, Temple downed Siena, 6-1, in Philadelphia.
The Johnnies are 4-2 all-time against the Owls. When the two programs last faced off in 2022, Temple picked up a 4-2 win in The City of Brotherly Love.
Following Saturday's match in Queens, St. John's will make the cross-city trek to the Bronx on Wednesday to take on Fordham.
