St. John’s Readies for Midweek Clash with Wagner

The Red Storm will head to Staten Island, N.Y., for its 24th all-time meeting with the Seahawks on Wednesday
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's softball team is set to continue play when it heads to Staten Island, N.Y., to take on Wagner at 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Red Storm enter the week with a 26-10-1 overall record after sweeping Providence in a three-game series last weekend. On Friday, the Johnnies routed the Friars, 9-2, before taking them down 2-1 and 3-1 in Saturday and Sunday's games, respectively. St. John's now holds an 8-1 record in BIG EAST play, marking the program's best start in the conference since the 2019 campaign when it held an 11-1 mark.
The Johnnies' pitching staff has continued to dominate, ranking first in all of Division I with 9.55 strikeouts per seven innings and 336 punchouts total. Juniors Ana Serafinko and Loreley Francia continue to lead the squad, accumulating 309 combined strikeouts in 2025.
Serafinko ranks second in the nation and tops the BIG EAST conference with 185 strikeouts in 116 innings this season. On Monday, the left-hander was named the conference's pitcher of the week for the second consecutive week after going 2-0 in four appearances with a 0.39 ERA and 23 punchouts in 18 innings pitched. Serafinko helped lead the Red Storm to its sweep of Providence, notching complete games in the opening and final contest while tallying a save in the middle contest.
The Chino Hills, Calif., product has appeared in nine consecutive games and allowed just six earned runs, lowering her season ERA to 1.93. In BIG EAST play, Serafinko leads the conference in all major categories with a 1.38 ERA, .197 opposing batting average, 40.2 innings pitched, 68 strikeouts and five wins.
On offense, London Jarrard continues to pace the Red Storm with a .420/.529/.661 slash line, nine doubles, six home runs and 38 RBIs. The senior was tabbed to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after going 5-for-12 (.417) with a home run and five RBIs across four games last week. In Friday's opening contest against Providence, Jarrard crushed a two-run home run and notched an RBI single to help lead St. John's to a convincing 9-2 victory.
Cassidy Stouffer tallied her 100th career hit in Saturday's contest against the Friars with a game-winning solo home run in the sixth inning. The junior's third home run of the season was the game-deciding hit in the Red Storm's 2-1 triumph over Providence. Stouffer is batting .300 with 30 hits, five doubles and 21 RBIs in 2025.
Head Coach Michelle DePolo achieved a career milestone herself this past weekend, earning her 400th win in Division I softball with Sunday's 3-1 win. DePolo has led the Red Storm to 57 victories through her first season and a half in Queens after totaling 282 wins in nine years at Army and 61 triumphs with Tennessee Tech in two seasons.
Wagner enters Wednesday's showdown with a 9-18 overall record and a 4-5 mark in the NEC. The Seahawks most recently took one of three games against FDU, winning the final contest of the series 6-5 in a Teaneck, N.J.
Geanice Morales leads the Wagner batting lineup with a .321 average to go along with two doubles and five RBIs. Inside the circle, Karson Zavala has thrown 86 innings, totaling a 3.74 ERA and 100 punchouts to lead the Seahawks' pitching staff.
