St. John’s Looks to Extend Winning Streak at Seton Hall

The Red Storm ride an eight-game winning streak into this weekend’s three-game series with the Pirates
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's softball team will look to extend its eight-game winning streak when it travels to take on Seton Hall for a three-game series at Essex County Mike Sheppard, Sr. Field in South Orange, N.J. this weekend.
The series will open on Friday at 2 p.m. with the middle contest slated for 1 p.m. on Saturday. The first pitch of the series finale is scheduled for noon on Sunday. The entire series will be streamed on FloSports with Live Stats available on RedStormSports.com.
The Johnnies ride an eight-game winning streak into the Garden State after toppling Stony Brook, 8-0, in five innings on Wednesday to wrap up a four-game homestand at Red Storm Field. St. John's improved to 31-10-1 with the victory, matching its win total from last season and sitting just two triumphs shy of breaking the program's all-time record of 32 wins set in both the 1990 and 2017 seasons.
St. John's also begins the weekend sitting atop the BIG EAST standings with an impressive 11-1 record in the conference, matching the program's best start since the 2019 campaign. In its last BIG EAST series, the Red Storm swept DePaul by taking down the Blue Demons with scores of 5-2, 5-3 and 11-3.
London Jarrard made St. John's history on Wednesday, surpassing Kacee Cox as the new program leader with 155 career RBIs. The senior set the program record with a four-RBI performance against the Seawolves, including a two-run home run in the opening frame. Jarrard rides a six-game hitting streak and has homered in four of the last five contests. The Carlsbad, Calif., product leads the Red Storm with a .434 batting average, 10 home runs and 47 RBIs in 2025.
The Johnnies' offense has continued to find success at the plate, generating double-digit hits for the fourth consecutive game with 11 hits against Stony Brook. St. John's has also launched at least one home run in six straight contests. Melanie Santos joined Jarrard by blasting her fourth home run with a solo shot on Wednesday. The Johnnies have combined for 32 long balls by nine different players in 2025.
Inside the circle, the St. John's pitching staff continues to rank amongst the nation's best, topping all of Division I with 9.46 strikeouts per seven innings and ranking 11th with a 2.02 team ERA. Loreley Francia and Ana Serafinko have combined for 346 of the team's 373 strikeouts this season.
Francia picked up her conference-leading 16th win against the Seawolves on Wednesday, tossing four shutout innings while punching out five batters. The Spring, Texas product has been dominant in her junior season, maintaining a 1.44 ERA and racking up 146 strikeouts in 121.1 innings pitched.
Seton Hall enters the weekend in fifth place in the BIG EAST, holding a 23-17 overall record and an 8-7 mark in the conference. The Pirates most recently split a doubleheader with FDU on Wednesday, winning the first contest 10-7 before dropping the latter game 3-1. In its last conference series, Seton Hall took one of three games against Providence in Rhode Island.
Graduate Student Kelsey Carr leads the Pirates in both the circle and at the dish. The Ridgewood, N.Y., product holds a 3.02 ERA and has totaled 64 strikeouts in 97.1 innings pitched. From the dish, Carr is batting .349 and is tied for the conference lead with 12 home runs. In addition to Carr, Seton Hall's lineup features six other batters hitting over .300 this season, including Olivia Gilbert who has totaled seven homers and a team-high 40 RBIs this year.
The Red Storm and Pirates will renew its rivalry as the Johnnies lead the all-time series with a 64-34 record and have been dominant in New Jersey, holding a 33-12 mark on the road.
