QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's softball team is set to begin its final homestand of the season when it welcomes Hofstra to Red Storm Field for a midweek clash on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
The contest will be streamed on FloSports with Live Stats available on RedStormSports.com.
The Red Storm sits atop the BIG EAST standings with a 14-4 mark in the conference and a 34-13-1 overall record. The squad's 34 wins this year mark a program record, breaking the previous record of 32 wins set in both the 1990 and 2017 seasons.
The Johnnies enter the week after taking two of three games at Creighton last weekend. St. John's opened the series by taking down the Bluejays 1-0 in 13 innings before dropping the second contest 6-4. In the rubber match on Saturday, the Red Storm survived a late Creighton rally to win 5-4. With its series win over the Bluejays, the Red Storm has won five of its six conference series, including three sweeps this season.
Ana Serafinko was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season on Monday, joining Loreley Francia(2025) and Madison Morris (2019) as the only three St. John's pitchers to capture the award three times in a single season. Serafinko ranks amongst the nation's best in strikeouts, sitting third in DI with 228 punchouts this season.
Led by Serafinko and Francia, the Red Storm pitching staff is first in DI with 421 team strikeouts. In Thursday's start at Creighton, Francia reached the 400-career strikeout milestone with a seven-punchout performance. Francia joins Serafinko, who reached the career milestone the weekend before at Seton Hall.
London Jarrard continued to be a force within the St. John's lineup this past weekend, batting .429 with a double, home run and four RBIs. The senior broke her single-season record for RBIs that was set last season by tallying her 52nd RBI with a single on Friday.
The senior has led the St. John's offense all year with a .424 batting average, 10 doubles, 12 home runs and 53 RBIs. Jarrard now holds both the career and single-season program record for RBIs and is on pace to have the best career batting average in program history.
Hofstra enters Wednesday with a 15-24 overall record and an 11-10 mark in CAA play. The Pride most recently fell in two of three games against Charleston, dropping the opening and final contests of the series.
Alanna Morse leads Hofstra's lineup, batting .358 with a pair of home runs and 21 RBIs this year. Inside the circle, Emma Falen tops the Pride's pitching staff, holding a 3.50 ERA and notching 99 strikeouts in 118 innings pitched.
St. John's and Hofstra will meet for the 50th time on Wednesday as the Pride lead the all-time series with a 37-12 record.
Last season, the two programs met at Bill Edwards Stadium, where Hofstra prevailed with a 2-0 victory despite a strong outing by Francia, who struck out seven batters in six innings of work.
Following Wednesday, St. John's will wrap up play at Red Storm Field when it hosts Villanova for a three-game series this weekend.
