No. 62 St. John’s Hosts Villanova and Saint Joseph’s This Week to Wrap Up Regular Season

The Johnnies are 19-2 for the first time in program history
QUEENS, N.Y. (April 8, 2025) – The No. 62 St. John's men's tennis team will wrap up the regular season with a pair of matches this week against Villanova and Saint Joseph's. Wednesday's BIG EAST contest against the Wildcats and Friday's matchup with the Hawks are set to begin at 3:30 p.m. at the St. John's Outdoor Courts.
The Johnnies (19-2, 3-0 BIG EAST) took down Drexel on Saturday, 4-2, extending their winning streak to four straight and continuing the best start in program history. With their victory in doubles action against the Dragons, Carl Gustavsson and Danilo Raicevic were tabbed BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week.
Adam Groves and Ryota Kaneda have led the Red Storm in doubles action this season, winning 15 of 16 matches as a pair. Armando Sotelo and Max Amiling have been productive over the last month, picking up victories in eight of their last 11 matches. The pair is 9-6 overall in 2025.
In singles play, Kaneda has been near perfect, playing to a 14-1 record. Danilo Raicevic has won his last four contests and is 7-2 in the team's last 10 matches, while Leonardo Mileikowsky is 12-4 overall. Amling has won 11 matches on the No. 1 court, and Ignacio Vinas is 11-4 on the season.
Villanova defeated Lafayette, 4-0, in its last time out on Friday to break a five-match losing streak but is just 4-16 overall and 0-4 in conference play. Trey Fourticq leads the Wildcats in solo play with four dual-match victories, while Kush Anand has three.
The Johnnies are 16-0 all-time against Villanova, most recently taking down their conference rivals, 7-0, on March 30, 2024.
Saint Joseph's is 8-12 on the season and is coming off a 4-1 triumph against Villanova. Prior to facing the Red Storm on Friday, the Hawks will face George Mason in Fairfax, Va., on Wednesday.
Friday will be the first all-time meeting between Saint Joseph's and St. John's.
Following this week's contests in Queens, the Red Storm will have a week off before traveling to Cayce, S.C., for the 2025 BIG EAST Tournament, beginning on April 18.
