St. John’s Welcomes Stony Brook for Midweek Contest

The Red Storm are set to wrap up a four-game homestand with the Seawolves
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's softball team is set to wrap up a four-game homestand when it welcomes Stony Brook for a midweek contest on Wednesday.
The first pitch is slated for 2:30 p.m. and will be streamed on FloSports. Live Stats will be available on RedStormSports.com.
The Red Storm are 30-10-1 and ride a seven-game winning streak after coming off a series sweep of DePaul this past weekend. In Friday's opening doubleheader, the Johnnies won 5-2 followed by a 5-3 victory. On Saturday, St. John's completed the series sweep with a dominant 11-3 triumph in six innings to improve to 11-1 in the BIG EAST, matching its best start in the conference since the 2019 season.
St. John's pitching staff has continued to dominate, ranking first nationally with 9.49 strikeouts per seven innings and eighth with a 2.08 ERA. Loreley Francia and Ana Serafinko lead the staff, combining for 341 of the team's 368 punchouts this season.
On Monday, Francia joined Madison Morris (2019) as the second Red Storm player to garner three BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week awards in the same season. The Spring, Texas product went 2-0 with a 1.08 ERA and 17 punchouts in a pair of complete game performances against Wagner and DePaul last week. Francia now ranks 13th and 16th nationally with 15 wins and a 1.49 ERA this season, respectively.
Serafinko made her presence felt inside the circle as well last weekend, notching a pair of wins against the Blue Demons. The left-hander has dominated in 2025, accumulating a 2.06 ERA and a whopping 200 strikeouts in 129 innings pitched.
London Jarrard made program history on Monday, becoming the first player in program history to be tabbed BIG EAST Player of the Week three times in one season. The shortstop went 8-for-13 (.615) with six runs scored, three home runs and five RBIs across just four games last week. Jarrard has been on a tear during her final season in Queens, batting .440 with nine doubles, nine home runs and 43 RBIs.
The offense combined to hit seven home runs last week with Jarrard drilling three while Anese Thompson, Elanna Lysiak, Melanie Santos and Celia Macari all crushing one. The Johnnies have combined for 30 long balls by nine different players in 2025.
Stony Brook enters Wednesday with a 15-17 record and is on a three-game winning streak after sweeping its series against North Carolina A&T last weekend. The Seawolves are off to a hot start in the CAA, generating a 10-5 mark so far in the conference.
Graduate Student Kyra McFarland leads the Stony Brook lineup, batting .430 with 29 runs scored, eight doubles, seven triples and 16 RBIs. Inside the circle, Crimson Rice holds a team-low 3.59 ERA and has struck out 17 batters in 66.1 innings pitched this season.
St. John's and Stony Brook will meet for the 18th time on Wednesday as Johnnies hold a 10-7 all-time record over the Seawolves. The meeting with mark the fifth consecutive season the two programs has met dating back to 2021. In last year's contest on Long Island, Stony Brook got the best of the Red Storm, winning 9-0 in six innings.
Following this weekend, the Red Storm will make the short trip to the Graden State for a three-game series with Seton Hall beginning on Friday at 2 p.m.
