Fourth-Seeded St. John’s Falls in BIG EAST Tournament Elimination Game to Second-Seeded UConn, 13-3

Luke Orbon finished 4-for-4 with a home run and two scores
Luke Orbon went a perfect 4-for-4 with a home run and a double. The senior shortstop also tacked on two runs and an RBI at Prasco Park.
Jackson Tucker tallied two hits with a score and a stolen base against the Huskies. Shaun McMillan posted an RBI single, while Jon LeGrande tacked on an RBI triple in the contest.
In the first at-bat of the game, Tucker whacked an infield single and then stole second base. Two outs later, McMillan drilled an RBI single through the right side, plating Tucker to give the Johnnies a 1-0 edge in the top of the first inning.
UConn retaliated in the bottom of the opening frame. After three batters reached on walks to load the bases, a runner came in to score on a single up the middle, tying the game, 1-1.
In the top side of the second stanza, the Red Storm posted another tally. Orbon laced a stand-up double down the left field line before LeGrande scored him on a blistering RBI triple that hit the right field wall, putting St. John's back in front, 2-1.
The Huskies tied the game up again in the flip side of the second. A batter made it to second base on a combination of a single and a groundout to lead off the frame. He made his way to home plate on a Rob Rispoli RBI single, evening the game up yet again, 2-2.
UConn grabbed the lead in the home half of the third inning. With two outs, a pair of Huskies made it to base on a single and a walk. The lead runner was scored on an RBI single to put UConn ahead by one, 3-2.
The score was tied for the third time in the contest during the top of the fourth frame. Orbon led off the frame by destroying a 3-1 pitch 418 feet over the right field wall for a solo shot, knotting the game, 3-3.
Between the fourth to sixth innings, UConn scored 10 runs, coming off three home runs, an RBI double and two RBI singles to lead, 13-3.
The Johnnies held the Huskies off the scoreboard in the seventh and eighth innings, but they failed to rally for the comeback as UConn took the elimination game, 13-3.
