Jamora Alves to Compete in 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Alves is slated to compete in discus at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday
QUEENS, N.Y.– St. John's standout thrower Jamora Alves is set to compete in the 2025 NCAA Track & Field Championships in the discus competition on Saturday at historic Hayward Field in Eugene Ore.
Alves will make her second appearance at the National Championships after qualifying as a freshman in 2022-23. The three-time All-BIG EAST selection will throw against the nation's best competing in a field of 24 throwers beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Alves qualification for NCAA Championships marks the third-straight year the Red Storm will be represented at the event under Director of Track & Field Aliann Pompey. Nora Haugen competed in the 800-meter run last year and Alves made her NCAA Finals debut in Austin, Texas in 2023, where she placed 22nd in the discus competition after a 50.08-meter heave.
Alves becomes the first Johnnie to make multiple NCAA Finals appearances in outdoor track & field since Claire Mooney (2013 & '16)
At the NCAA East Regional, Alves punched her ticket after placing 12th in Jacksonville, Fla., on the campus of North Florida. The Grenada native launched a 54.16-meter heave on her second attempt to earn qualification in Oregon.
