St. John’s Cross Country Opens 2025 Season at Iona Meet of Champions

The Red Storm will travel to Van Cortlandt Park for their season opener
QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's cross country program will open their 2025 campaign at the Iona Meet of Champions, hosted by Iona University in The Bronx at Van Cortlandt Park.
The Red Storm have a handful of athletes toeing the line on Friday morning, with the race scheduled to go off at 10:45 a.m. ET.
The Johnnies competed in the Meet of Champions last season, posting a team average of 22:05 to complete the 5k race.
Multiple Johnnies will make their season debuts, as Mia Torres, Cristina Stanescu, Brenin Mahon, Naiara Garcia and Ana Dobsa return for the Red Storm.
St. John's will have a newcomer in the race, as Attoya Harvey makes her Red Storm debut.
Led by head coach Elliott Blount, the Johnnies look to continue to build a solid foundation for the upcoming season. Entering his fifth season at the helm, the cross country program has delivered at Metropolitan Cross Country Championship back in 2023 and have turned out multiple top-three team performances.
