Red Storm and Bluejays to battle at 12 p.m. on FOX
QUEENS, N.Y. - Holding the third longest winning streak in NCAA Division I and the best amongst high-major programs, the No. 17/16 St. John's men's basketball team (21-5, 14-1 BIG EAST) will roll into Madison Square Garden to face Creighton on Saturday at 12 p.m.
St. John's University will host the fourth-annual "Johnnies Day" in celebration of the school's contributions to New York City and globally since 1870. Fans are encouraged to show their Red Storm pride by participating in the "Red Out" All fans seated in the lower bowl will receive a free "We Are St. John's" poster. The posters will also be available outside Section 210 inside MSG. Additionally, the first 2,500 fans at the game will receive a free hat, courtesy of Maspeth Federal Savings.
The Red Storm is 3-0 on Johnnies Day, with all three wins coming against nationally ranked opponents. The last two victories have come against the Bluejays, who were ranked no. 24 last year and no. 15 in 2024.

Saturday's rematch of the 2025 BIG EAST Tournament Championship game will be nationally televised on FOX. Alex Faust and Donny Marshall will have the call from the World's Most Famous Arena.
The LEARFIELD St. John's Radio Network broadcast will be available with John Minko and Vin Parise on 1050 AM ESPN New York, the ESPN New York App, the Varsity Network, TuneIn, Sirius XM Channel 83, the SiriusXM App and the St. John's Red Storm App. A national ESPN Radio broadcast will also be available with Mike Couzens and Bob Valvano on the call.
The Red Storm has won 12 straight games, all against BIG EAST opponents, dating back 45 days to Jan. 6. The winning streak marks the program's longest since it rattled off 12 consecutive victories to open the 2018-19 campaign. The Johnnies have not won 13 straight or more since they won 19 straight from Dec. 22, 1984 - Feb. 23, 1985 under Lou Carnesecca.
St. John's is currently on its second-longest ever unbeaten stretch in BIG EAST play trailing only the 1984-85 team that captured 14 in a row to open conference play. As of Wednesday, the Red Storm moved into sole possession of first place in the BIG EAST standings after defeating Marquette and UConn falling to Creighton at Gampel Pavilion.
The Red Storm picked up its 11th straight road victory on Wednesday over Marquette, 76-70, at Fiserv Forum. After surrendering its halftime lead, a pivotal 17-5 second half run pushed St. John's back into control in Milwaukee. Bryce Hopkins paced the squad logging 23 points and matched a season-high 10 rebounds, for his first double-double at St. John's.
Hopkins has increased his production significantly during the winning streak. Over the last 12 games, the graduate student is averaging 15.0 points, 6.9 rebounds and holds a 2.6 assist-to-turnover ratio. The forward has scored in double-figures in 10 of the last 12 contests and has grabbed nine or more boards in each of his last three appearances.
Zuby Ejiofor continued his banner senior campaign reaching double-figures for the 15th time in his last 16 games. On Thursday, the Preseason BIG EAST Player of the Year was named to the Naismith Trophy Player of the Year Late-Season Team one of the 30 players in consideration for the honor presented to the nation's top player. On the year, Ejiofor is averaging 16.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.9 blocks per game. He is the only player in high-major basketball to lead his team in all four statistical categories.
The Red Storm has won five-straight at The World's Most Famous Arena dating back to Jan. 13. Since Feb. 25, 2024, the Johnnies have tallied wins in 19 of their last 21 contests against BIG EAST opponents at Madison Square Garden.
Creighton leads the all-time series, 19-14, but the Red Storm have won three straight and four of the last five. In their first meeting in Omaha, St. John's routed Creighton, 90-73, on Jan. 10. Lefteris Liotopoulos led six Johnnies in double-figures finishing with a career-high 17 points on 5-fo-8 shooting from deep at CHI Health Center Omaha.
Saturday's matchup will pit two of the winningest coaches in BIG EAST history against one another. Rick Pitino ranks fifth in all-time BIG EAST wins (155) in 13 seasons while McDermott sits sixth (146).
The Bluejays (14-3, 8-8 BIG EAST) are coming off an impressive upset over No. 5/5 UConn on Wednesday at Gampel Pavilion, 91-84. Creighton has now defeated a top-10 team in each of the last 11 seasons under McDermott.
Josh Dix (12.3 PPG), Austin Swartz (11.4 PPG), Jasen Green (10.3 PPG) and Nik Graves (10.3 PPG) combined to lead Creighton offensively.
Following Saturday's contest, St. John's will head to Hartford for a Wednesday showdown against No. 5/5 UConn at PeoplesBank Arena. The contest will tip-off at 7 p.m. and will air on NBCSN and Peacock.
