Red Storm Seek First Three-Game Winning Streak Since 2018
QUEENS, N.Y. – Coming off a thrilling 9-8 victory over Hofstra, the St. John's lacrosse team will conclude its three-game road swing with a trip to Easton, Pa., to face Lafayette. Face-off from Fisher Stadium is set for 4 p.m.
Saturday's matchup with the Leopards will be streamed on ESPN+ with Adam Dobrowolski and Alex Schoen on the call. Live stats will be available on RedStormSports.com.
The Johnnies improved to 2-2 with a hard-fought 9-8 win over Hofstra on Saturday in Farmingdale. Facing a late deficit, St. John's responded with three unanswered goals in the final minutes to complete the comeback. The Red Storm held firm in the closing seconds, turning away a last push from the Pride to secure the one-goal victory.
Jake Wright and Brody Hergott led the offensive effort with two goals apiece, with Hergott netting the decisive score in the final two minutes. Adrian Nowak continued his consistent play, extending his point streak to 19 games and his goal streak to nine, while BIG EAST Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week honoree, Noah Plenn also found the back of the net for his 19th of the season. In goal, Matt Nelson delivered a strong performance with 10 saves, including several key stops late in the contest to seal the victory
Lafayette enters Saturday's contest with a 3-2 record, most recently earning a decisive 19-5 victory over Mount St. Mary's on Feb. 21. The Leopards opened the season with a setback against Air Force on Feb. 1 before picking up wins over NJIT, 19-9, and Binghamton, 10-9. Lafayette then dropped a Feb. 17 contest to Drexel prior to last weekend.
Under head coach, Patrick Myers, the Leopards are coming off an impressive 10-6 campaign in 2025, which included a 5-3 mark in Patriot League play and a berth in the conference tournament semifinals, where they fell to Boston University in a tightly contested matchup.
Myers' squad returns four of its top five scorers from a year ago, led by sophomore attackman Benjamin DiBattista. DiBattista ranks third in NCAA Division I with 17 goals and has added two assists for 19 points, earning Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week honors after an eight-goal performance against NJIT.
Nicholas Blalock has also been a key contributor for the Leopards. After recording 29 points and earning Patriot League All-Tournament Team honors in 2025, the sophomore has continued his strong play this season with five goals and seven assists for 12 points entering Saturday's matchup in Easton.
St. John's and Lafayette have met three times in program history, with the Red Storm holding a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series. The two programs last faced off on March 6, 2007, when the Johnnies earned a 9-3 victory. Saturday's contest will mark the first meeting between the teams in nearly two decades, as the Red Storm look to extend their advantage in the series and improve to 3-2.
Following Saturday's contest against the Leopards, St. John's will return to Queens to host Bryant at Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium on March 7. Face-off is scheduled for 12 p.m.
