Red Storm Opens Battle at the Max with 8-3 Win Over Campbell

St. John’s is now 12-0 in neutral site games this season
GREENVILLE, N.C. — The St. John's softball team (13-3, 0-0 BIG EAST) opened its weekend in the Tar Heel State with an 8-3 victory over Campbell on Friday evening at Max R. Joyner Family Stadium. The win extended the Red Storm's perfect neutral-site record to 12-0 and marked the program's sixth game this season scoring seven or more runs.
St. John's totaled nine hits in the win and received multi-RBI efforts from Cassidy Stouffer and Natasha Limbani. Stouffer led the lineup with a three-hit, three-RBI performance that included two doubles, while Limbani added a two-run double and scored twice.
The Red Storm also received offensive contributions from Sarah Post, who recorded a hit, a walk and a stolen base, and from Elanna Lysiak, who went 1-for-3 with a run scored.
In the circle, Loreley Francia earned the win after working 4.2 innings with three strikeouts. The senior allowed three earned runs on eight hits and two walks across 90 pitches. Ana Serafinko followed with 2.1 dominant innings, striking out five without allowing a hit.
St. John's opened the game with a three-run first inning. London Slade dropped down a bunt single before Lysiak reached on a walk. Limbani followed with a two-run double to center field to start the scoring. Stouffer added an infield single and later stole second, which allowed Limbani to score for a 3-0 lead.
Campbell responded with two runs in the bottom of the second to cut the deficit to 3-2.
The Red Storm then used a three-run surge in the top of the third to push the lead to 6-2. Lysiak singled and Post was hit by a pitch before Stouffer delivered an RBI double to left-center to score pinch runner Jacqueline Scott. Ava Fierst lifted a sacrifice fly to center to bring home Post, and Madison Konopka drove a single up the middle to plate Stouffer to claim the four-run lead.
Campbell added another run in the bottom of the third that brought the score to 6-3.
St. John's added two more insurance runs in the fifth inning. Post singled to open the bottom of the frame and Limbani drew a walk before pinch runner Paige Sterling entered for Post. Stouffer then roped her second double of the game to center field, driving in both Sterling and Limbani to extend the Johnnies' lead to 8-3.
Serafinko took over in the bottom of the fifth and shut the door on the Camels. The Chino Hills, Calif., native retired seven of the eight batters she faced and recorded four swinging strikeouts over the final two innings.
St. John's continues play at the Battle at the Max on Saturday with a 10 a.m. rematch with Campbell followed by a 12:30 p.m. contest against ECU.
