QUEENS, N.Y. — The St. John's softball team travels to the Bronx for a midweek matchup against Fordham on March 18 at 2 p.m. at the Bahoshy Softball Complex. The contest will be streamed on ESPN+ with live stats available on RedStormSports.com.
St. John's (19-8, 1-2 BIG EAST) is 16-12 against Fordham all-time and has won two of the last three meetings with the Rams. The Red Storm are 8-6 in games played in the Bronx, while Fordham took last season's matchup, 4-1, on March 26, 2025, at Red Storm Field.
The Red Storm return to action following a four-game sweep this past weekend at Red Storm Field, defeating Army and Harvard twice each. After opening the season with 24 consecutive games away from Red Storm Field, St. John's outscored its opponents, 26-10, across the four victories.
Ana Serafinko headlined the weekend with a historic milestone in Saturday's opener against Army, recording her 590th career strikeout to set a new St. John's program record. The senior posted a season-high 15 strikeouts in the victory and added a save later in the day before recording another complete game with 10 strikeouts against Harvard on Sunday.
Following the weekend, Serafinko was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season and the sixth time in her career.
In the circle, the Chino Hills, Calif., native has continued to dominate, ranking second in NCAA Division I with 141 strikeouts and fifth nationally with 10 complete games this season. The senior also leads the BIG EAST in innings pitched (96.1) and victories (10).
Loreley Francia has recorded seven complete games this season, which ranks 25th in NCAA Division I. Francia currently sits at 492 strikeouts for her career, just eight shy of the 500 mark.
As a staff, St. John's ranks 11th in NCAA Division I in strikeouts per seven innings (7.75) and leads the BIG EAST in strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.29). The Red Storm also lead the conference with a 3.27 team ERA and have recorded three shutouts this season.
Offensively, St. John's produced 26 runs across the four games last weekend, highlighted by a three-RBI performance from Elanna Lysiak and the first career home run from Madison Konopka.
On Sunday, the Red Storm totaled 16 runs and 17 hits, with London Slade (two runs), Natasha Limbani (two runs), Avery Neuman (three RBIs) and Makenna Meadows (two hits, two RBIs) each turning in season-high efforts.
Jess Bianco leads the BIG EAST with 37 hits this season and has totaled 104 career stolen bases, which ranks third among active NCAA Division I players. Slade has also been one of the toughest hitters to strike out in the country, ranking fifth in NCAA Division I in that category.
Lysiak ranks sixth among the national leaders with four triples this season, while the Red Storm rank 23rd nationally in triples per game (0.37), which sits second in the BIG EAST.
St. John's is one of just four teams in NCAA Division I to record a triple play this season alongside Boise State, Loyola Chicago and Grambling.
Fordham enters Wednesday's matchup with an 8-13 overall record and a 2-4 mark in Atlantic-10 play, having faced a challenging non-conference schedule that included then-No. 15 Georgia, Baylor and Oregon State. The Rams split their weekend series with Dayton from March 14-15, highlighted by a 15-7 run-rule victory.
Following the midweek matchup, St. John's will travel to Washington, D.C., for its first BIG EAST road series of the season against Georgetown from March 20-22.
