Ana Serafinko drives in career-high five runs as Red Storm tops Fordham
BRONX, N.Y. (March 18, 2026) — The St. John's softball team picked up a 7-3 victory over Fordham on Wednesday in the Bronx.
Ana Serafinko turned in her biggest offensive performance of the afternoon, launching a grand slam in the third inning before adding an RBI single in the fifth. Serafinko's five RBIs set a new career high, passing her previous record of four from March 28, 2024 in the Red Storm's 8-0 road win over DePaul.
Mya Laroya recorded the first multi-hit game of her career, finishing with career highs in hits and runs scored with two apiece.
The Red Storm (20-8, 1-2 BIG EAST) totaled seven runs on nine hits, using a four-run third inning to create early separation over the Rams (8-14, 2-4 A10).
Loreley Francia earned the win after allowing one run over the first four innings. Serafinko entered in relief and struck out four over the final three frames to help close out the victory. Francia tossed five strikeouts and now sits just five away from crossing the 500 mark for her career.
Serafinko finished with five RBIs and two hits, while Laroya and Jess Bianco each recorded two hits. London Slade also scored once for the Red Storm.
After two scoreless innings to begin the contest, the Red Storm broke through in the third. Laroya, Bianco and Slade recorded consecutive singles to load the bases before Serafinko blasted a four-run home run to right center, giving St. John's a 4-0 lead.
Serafinko became the second Red Storm player to hit a grand slam this season, joining Elanna Lysiak, who did so on March 8, 2026, in an 11-10 comeback win over UConn.
Fordham got on the board in the fourth after using an RBI single to trim the deficit to 4-1.
The Red Storm responded with two tallies in the fifth. Bianco singled to lead off the inning and later scored on a Serafinko RBI single. Lysiak then came home on the throw during Alyssa Platero's caught stealing to extend the lead to 6-1.
Fordham answered in the bottom of the fifth on a two-run single to make it 6-3.
St. John's added an insurance run in the sixth. Laroya singled before Lysiak delivered an RBI single to right field, bringing home Laroya to wrap up the scoring at 7-3.
The Red Storm returns to action on Friday in its first BIG EAST road series of the season against Georgetown. All three of the conference contests will be streamed live on ESPN+, with live stats available on RedStormSports.com
