Track and Field Ventures to Florida for USF Alumni Invitational

The two-day meet begins Friday and concludes Saturday
QUEENS, N.Y. (March 19, 2026) – The St. John's track and field team will begin the outdoor season with a trip to Tampa, Fla., for the USF Alumni Invitational.
The two-day meet starts on Friday morning at the USF Track and Field Stadium. Both days of competition will be streamed on ESPN+, and live results can be found here.
Coming off a third-place showing at the BIG EAST Indoor Track and Field Championships, the Red Storm will begin a competitive outdoor slate with their first trip to USF.
Jamora Alves will look to carry her dominant form into the outdoor season. The senior captured the BIG EAST title in the weight throw with a personal-best 17.31m. She also added a silver medal in the shot put and is slated to compete in the shot put on Friday. She will compete in the discus, an event in which she is the Grenada national record holder, on Saturday.
Her teammate Juliet Smith is coming off a strong showing in the throws, earning silver in the weight throw and placing seventh in the shot put. She is scheduled to compete in both the hammer throw and shot put on Friday.
Cassandra Lemus-Sodji enters the meet fresh off a BIG EAST title in the long jump, where she posted a personal-best mark of 6.22 meters. The senior will compete in the event on Friday and double back on Saturday in the 100-meter dash.
Also in the jumps, Fia Viklund is set to compete in the triple jump after earning a silver medal at the BIG EAST Championships with a personal-best leap of 12.63 meters.
Naiara Garcia-Moreno headlines the middle-distance group after setting a program record in the 800 meters with a time of 2 minutes, 2.94 seconds at the conference meet. She is scheduled to race in the 800 meters on Friday and the 1,500 meters on Saturday.
Nora Haugen, who posted an indoor personal-best of 2:03.53 in the 800 meters, will join Garcia Moreno in Friday's half mile. The Norwegian will also compete in the 400 meters on Saturday.
Rounding out the track events is Nyla Henderson, who will look to build on her third-place finish in the 400 meters at the conference championship with a time of 55.07 seconds. She will compete in both the 200 meters on Friday and the 400 meters on Saturday.
The Johnnies will return to Queens next weekend, hosting the Big Hurt at the DaSilva Athletic Complex on March 28.
