The Red Storm is back at Glay Field for the series finale at 12 p.m. on Sunday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The St. John's softball team fell to Providence, 9-3, on Saturday afternoon in game two of a three-game BIG EAST series at Glay Field.

The Red Storm (26-15, 6-8 BIG EAST) recorded three runs on eight hits in the contest. Madison Konopka led the offense with a season-high three hits and two runs scored, while Ana Serafinko finished with two hits. Serafinko has now posted two hits in each of her last three appearances at the plate.

Elanna Lysiak added an RBI double and London Slade drove in a run for the Johnnies. In the circle, Loreley Francia tallied her 9^th complete game of the season, which ranks second in the BIG EAST.

St. John's opened the scoring in the top of the first inning when Jess Bianco crossed the plate on a wild pitch after reaching on a Providence error.

The Red Storm extended their lead in the second inning when Slade delivered an RBI single to shortstop to bring home Konopka and make it 2-0.

Providence (18-14, 9-2 BIG EAST) answered in the bottom half of the inning with a two-run single to tie the game at 2-2.

The Friars moved in front in the third inning with a pair of home runs to take a 5-2 advantage. They'd add another two runs in the bottom of the fifth behind another home run to go ahead 7-2.

St. John's trimmed the deficit in the sixth inning when Lysiak doubled to center field to score Konopka, giving Lysiak her team-leading 29th RBI of the 2026 season which cut the lead to four.

Providence added two runs in the bottom half of the inning to extend the margin to 9-3.

The Red Storm placed two runners on base in the seventh inning but could not push another run across.
