This is the seniors third selection of the outdoor season and sixth career selection
NEW YORK (April 28, 2026) – The St. John's track and field standout Jamora Alves was named the BIG EAST Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this season following her impressive performances at the 130th Penn Relays, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon.
This marks the sixth weekly honor roll appearance during Alves' time as a Johnnie. She most recently was named back-to-back field athlete of the week earlier this month. St. John's has appeared in every weekly honor roll during the month of April, extending the streak to four straight weeks.
At Penn Relays, the Grenada native secured pair of top five finishes at historic Franklin Field. On Friday, she recorded a second-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 14.95m (49 feet, 0.75 inches), just two centimeters off first place.
The next day, the senior unleashed a seasons-best mark of 52.37m (171 feet, 10 inches) to place fourth in the discus. Her mark sits atop of the BIG EAST and 31st in the NCAA East Region.
Alves, along with 14 other seniors, are set to be honored on Saturday at the Tom Farrell Classic for Senior Day. The ceremony is set to begin at 12 p.m. at the DaSilva Athletic Complex.
