St. Johns Dominates the Field With 17 First Place Finishes

For the men, junior Marc Crosswell (Elmont, N.Y.) led the way for St. Johns with two first place finishes. His first place finishes came in the 800 meters with a time of 2:03.72 and in the 1500 meters, clocking a time of 4:15.06.
Also coming in first for the men were senior Dietrech Washington (Nashua, N.H.) and freshman Joe Gilpin (North Babylon, N.Y.). Washington placed first in the shot put with a toss of 13.78m and Gilpins time of 24.02 placed him first in the 200 meters.
The men 4X400 meter relay team also finished first, clocking a time of 3:38.0 while the womens 4X400 also finished first at 4:11.8.
For the women, junior Sophia Bazile (Nyack, N.Y.) had a breakout day, earning a first place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 329 and another first place finish, this time in the long jump with a 177 >.
Of the 17 first place finishes for St. Johns, the women earned 11 of them. Senior Denise Raab (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) turned in one of her best times of the year, placing first in the 100 meter hurdles, with a time of 18.36. Junior Taniesha Lewis (Somerset, N.J.) clocked an impressive time of 26.2 in the 200 meters, placing her first in the event.
Sophomores Judy Owens (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Charline Sealy (Brooklyn, N.Y.) each earned first places on the day for St. Johns. Owens placed first in the shot put, after a toss of 12.00m and Sealy came in first in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:24.42.
The St. Johns mens and womens track and field team returns to action on April 4, when the travel to William and Mary College to compete in the Colonial Relays.
