Greene Runs Top 20 Time At ECAC Championships

BRONX, N.Y. - The Red Storm cross country team raced in its final event of the season, Saturday afternoon in Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y., at the ECAC Championships 5K.
Out of 25 teams, St. John's placed 15th with 389 points and an average time of 20:27 in the ECAC University Race.
Leading the Red Storm in the sixth consecutive meet was junior-transfer Tyneka Greene, with a 19th place time of 19:16, her best 5k meet time of the season. The under 20 minute finish was also a team best. Her top 20 time also earned her All-ECAC cross country honors. Greene's ECAC honors are a first for the Red Storm since Danielle Eckartz in 2000.
Following Greene and crossing the tape second and third for the Red Storm for the second straight week were Sarah Sudbury (19:56) and Lori Dougherty (20:41). Dougherty ran her season-best in the 5K by 17 seconds.
Sarah Fry, Kayla Regulski, Katrina Schaefer and Rakibat Abiola also ran in the in the ECAC University Race.
Saturday's race closed out the Red Storm's cross country season for 2007. Coming up next, St. John's will jump right into the indoor track and field season as the team heads back to the Bronx to compete in the Manhattan College Multi Invitational December 1 in Riverdale, N.Y.
