- St. John's Head Coach Kim Barnes Arico
On today's game:
"I believe that the BIG EAST is the toughest league in the country. Playing against Providence, I knew the game was going to go down to the wire. I knew they were going to battle back. I was happy with the way we finished and were able to come away with the win. It was a terrific way to start the BIG EAST season."
On Monique McLean:
"We knew she was going to be a superstar here. I think she has had a lot of ups and downs; our program has had a lot of ups and downs. Her sophomore year we had a lot of injuries and it was a tough year. But I think she's learned from that and she's grown. Right now, she is one of the best guards in the country. She averages about six or seven rebounds per game and she probably averages close to 20 points per game, shooting nearly 50 percent from the floor and three."
On the St. John's men's basketball upset over Notre Dame:
"We were really excited for them and we said, Let's make it a sweep and come out of The Garden 2-0.' Our men's coaches and players work extremely hard and we were really proud to be part of St. John's today."
