QUEENS, N.Y. - After leading the St. John's baseball team to a 4-0 week, including a three-game sweep of BIG EAST foe UConn, Jimmy Parque was named to the BIG EAST weekly honor roll. This is the first career BIG EAST honor for the junior college transfer.
Parque batted an even .500 (9-for-18), including .538 (7-for-13) in BIG EAST play. The outfielder also added a .722 slugging percentage and a .565 on-base percentage. Parque also had four doubles and seven RBI on the week, all of which came in the three-game set against UConn. Parque had at least two hits in all four games, while extending his hitting-steak to a season-best 18 games.
The outfielder was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in an 8-5 win to open the series against UConn. In an 8-7 win against the Huskies in game two, Parque had what proved to be the game-winning RBI double in the ninth inning. The junior then added a pair of doubles and four RBI in a 13-4 win as St. John's completed a sweep of the Huskies.
Parque ranks fifth in the conference with 48 RBI on the year. In BIG EAST games only, the junior is first in hits (35), second in RBI (26) and third in batting average (.422).
