ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - St. John's senior Priscilla Frederick took the bronze medal in the high jump at the USATF Indoor National Championships in Albuquerque, N.M.
Fresh off a victory in the event at the BIG EAST Indoor Championships, Frederick jumped 1.80 meters to tie for third place overall, her first best finish at a national championship meet while at St. John's.
Two years ago, Frederick placed sixth in the USA Indoor Championships and was 12th at last summer's USA Outdoor Championships. She also finished fifth in the USA Junior Championships when she was a freshman. Frederick is a two-time NCAA All-American, BIG EAST and ECAC Champion and school record-holder in the high jump.
In action on Friday night in the Armory Collegiate Challenge at the New Balance Armory in New York, senior Sarah Sudbury qualified for the ECAC Championships with a career-best time of 2:14.24 in the 800-meter race.
Junior Samantha Meyerhoff and redshirt-sophomore Nicole Cocozza also ran in the mile race in the event, finishing 11th (5:14.63) and 16th (5:19.47), respectively.
The Red Storm will next compete at the ECAC Championships on March 5 in Boston, Mass.
