DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Senior Harin Lee rounded out her collegiate career the same way as she started as a freshman, finishing her senior year as the BIG EAST Champion on Saturday after carding a 226 (+10) to earn her second career title.
Lee took home the conference title as a freshman in 2011 on her way to being crowned the BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and finished her senior year in very similar fashion as she reclaimed her title with a three-stroke victory.
"This feels amazing," said Lee. "I'm truly blessed to have won the BIG EAST twice in my career and it has been such an honor to play for such an awesome program."
Lee entered Saturday's final round with a four-stroke lead after carding back-to-back rounds of 74 on Thursday and Friday.
"Heading into the final round, I was nervous and tried not to think about my lead, but I couldn't help but to think of it," said Lee.
After opening play with a birdie on one, the nerves began to show as Lee allowed for five-straight bogeys before finishing out her last two holes on the front nine at an even-par. The senior showed her maturity, however, following the turn, finishing all even aside from a pair of bogeys to finish the day at six-over to round out her 54-hole total of 226 (+10) as she secured the title by three strokes.
In that pack chasing Lee was fellow teammate Anna Kim who carded the team's best round of the event with a 73 (+1) on Saturday after a pair of birdies on nine and 17 to move up five spots to tie for second overall with a 229 (+13).
The Red Storm continued to attack as a team on Saturday as well, carding a tournament-low round of 302 to finish in third place overall with a 937 (+73), only two strokes behind second-place Georgetown.
Jennifer Neville wrapped up her collegiate career with a strong finish as well as she matched Kim's low-round thanks to birdies on both eight and 17 to finish the tournament tied for 13th with a 238 (+22).
Senior Rachel Carpenter continued to improve in the final round of action, dropping six strokes off of her Friday afternoon total to card a 78 (+6) for a 54-hole total of 247 (+31) to round out the team's total and take 22nd place overall.
Stephanie Eybers also sank her last putt as a member of the Red Storm on Saturday afternoon, carding an 86 in the final round to finish 27th overall with a 252 (+36).
The third-place finish matches last year's performance as the Red Storm placed third in the field of eight in 2013, carding a three-day total of 904 (+40).
