QUEENS, N.Y. - A pair of St. John's Women's Soccer standouts has been recognized for their successes both on and off the pitch, as Rachel Daly and Diana Poulin were announced as NSCAA Scholar All-Americans by the organization this morning.
Daly, who was a selection to the NSCAA Scholar All-America Second Team a season ago, found a spot on the Scholar All-America First Team, while Poulin earned a bid to the Scholar All-America Second Team.
Daly earns the honor following the conclusion of the most prolific career in the history of St. John's Women's Soccer. As a senior, Daly led the BIG EAST in scoring, ranked third in the NCAA with 19 goals and took home the second BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year award of her St. John's tenure. The owner of five multi-goal games this season, Daly shattered the program's career records in both goals (50) and points (111) despite playing just three seasons in Queens. Since the beginning of the 2013 season, only Savannah Jordan of Florida, a fellow first-teamer, has scored more goals than Daly.
This honor is just the latest in a string of awards for the Harrogate, England, native. For her career, Daly was a two-time NSCAA All-American, a two-time NSCAA Scholar All-American, a CoSIDA Academic All-American, a two-time BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year, a three-time First Team All-BIG EAST selection, the 2013 BIG EAST Newcomer of the Year, a three-time NSCAA First Team All-Region honoree, a two-time MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List selection and a 2015 MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist.
An exceptional student, Daly will graduate this winter with a degree in sports management and a GPA of 3.49.
Poulin, an NSCAA First Team All-Region selection this season, took home her second-straight BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year honor after helping lead the Red Storm to its first-ever BIG EAST Regular Season Championship and a school record 15 wins. Sporting the 20th-best goals against average in the NCAA at 0.64, St. John's set a new program mark with 12 clean sheets, 11 of which Poulin contributed to, including six solo shutouts.
The owner of 31 career wins following an 8-4-1 showing this season, the junior from Hauppauge, N.Y., is just one win shy of tying Kristin Russell for first place on the St. John's all-time wins list. Poulin also ranks second on the St. John's career shutouts list with 20.
An accounting major, Poulin sports a GPA of 3.50.
