McAuliffe, Valente Named To BIG EAST All-Tournament Team

QUEENS, N.Y. - Following their performances in a 1-2 showing for St. John's at the BIG EAST Tournament in Aberdeen, Md., both Ryan McAuliffe and John Valente have been named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.
In an elimination game against Seton Hall, McAuliffe led St. John's to victory with 7.0 innings of one-run ball. The junior righty allowed just four hits, while walking two and striking out five. McAuliffe held the Pirates to just a .167 batting average.
Valente, meanwhile, hit safely in all three games and batted .462 (6-for-13) with two multi-hit efforts. The first baseman had one double, two RBI and three runs scored. Valente went 3-for-5 with an RBI double and a run in the opener against Xavier and went 1-for-4 with a run scored against Seton Hall. In the final game against Creighton, Valente finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run.
