St. John’s Defeats Lipscomb, 5-2

The Red Storm ends its two-match losing streak with a win over the Bisons in Nashville.
NASHVILLE, TENN. – The St. John's men's Tennis team (5-3) bounced back from a tough loss to Middle Tennessee by outdueling Lipscomb, 5-2, Saturday night.
Every guy battled in our match today," said head coach Dillon Pottish. "We had a lot of chances against a very strong Middle Tennessee team yesterday. It was a good match for us."
In doubles action, the Red Storm and the Bisons traded wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 matches. After Luka Sucevic and Andrei Crapcenco dropped their match, 6-4, in the No. 1 match, Aditya Vashistha and Ognjen Trejgut forced a decisive third match for the doubles point, winning the No. 3 match, 6-3.
The duo of Alan Nunez Aguilera and Charlie James battled valiantly in their match but came up just short of gaining the doubles point for the Johnnies, falling 7-5.
In single's play, the Red Storm earned its first point of the match with a quick (6-1, 6-1) triumph in the No. 4 match by Vashistha over Lipscomb's Pedro Uribe.
Crapcenco dominated in the No. 1 singles match as he outlasted Lipscomb's Victor Chaw, 6-1, 6-4, giving the Johnnies a 2-1 lead.
Senior Dusan Vukicevic's win increased the Red Storm's lead to 3-1 with a win in the No. 5 position, (6-3, 6-3), over Jake Penny.
Trejgut filled in for Charlie James in the No. 6 match and pulled the Jonnies within one point of clinching the match, defeating Lipscomb's David Skrabut in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3.
Senior Luka Sucevic clinched the match for St. John's as he overcame Jorge Ortegan in the No.3 match in three sets, 6-4, 5-7, 6-1.
The Red Storm return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 27, against Fairleigh Dickinson at the USTA National Tennis Center. The time of the match is to be determined.
