St. John’s Ventures to Princeton for Sunday Morning Showcase

St. John’s looks to defeat its first Ivy League opponent this season on Sunday
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's tennis team will hit the road for the second-straight weekend as the Red Storm heads to Princeton, N.J. to battle the Princeton Tigers at 11 a.m. on Sunday at the Cordish Family Pavilion and Lenz Tennis Center.
Coach Dillon Pottish's squad will look to continue their winning ways, coming off a 5-2 victory over Lipscomb on Saturday, Feb. 23, followed by a dominant 7-0 sweep over Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday night at the USTA National Tennis Center.
Alan Nunez Aguilera has been stellar for the Johnnies as of late, leading the Red Storm with a 6-3 overall record in his last five matches.
Aditya Vashistha has won his last two singles matches, boasting a combined 3-0 record.
Ognjen Trejgut dominated in the No. 1 singles match against Fairleigh Dickinson, as he outlasted Mehdi Dhouib, (6-2, 6-2).
Charlie James and Alex Roszkowski also claimed straight-set victories in their respective No. 3 and No. 6 matches against Fairleigh Dickinson's Moric Budinszky (6-2, 6-4) and Eduardo Cabral (6-3, 6-1).
Daniel Skripnik and Igor Maslov both won their singles matches against the Knights in three sets over Andris Gudins (6-7, 6-3, 11-9) and Ivan Solans Diaz (3-6, 6-3, 6-2), respectively.
Sunday's showdown will be the second meeting between the two programs in as many years. In 2013, the Tigers defeated the Johnnies on their home court, 5-2.
Heading into the weekend, Princeton's Davey Roberts is 3-0 in his last three matches, playing in the No. 4 and No. 6 singles positions. Karl Poling has also been solid as of late for the Tigers, entering the weekend with a 3-0 record as the No. 3 player in the singles category.
St. John's will travel back to the Garden State next weekend for a match against Monmouth on Sunday March 10 in West Long Branch, N.J.
