St. John’s looks to end its four-game losing streak with a win on the road on Saturday
QUEENS, N.Y. – After losing its final game of the season at DaSilva Memorial Field on April 13 to No. 13 Denver, 12-8, the St. John's lacrosse team returns to action this Saturday to take on BIG EAST rival Villanova in the Keystone State. The Johnnies are still in search of their first conference win of the season after losing their third conference game last weekend.

The Johnnies (4-8, 0-3 BIG EAST) are still in search of their first conference win of the season after losing their third conference game last weekend. A victory on Saturday will mark the Red Storm's first BIG EAST win since April 30, 2016, and will improve St. John's to 5-8 this season.
St. John's honored 10 seniors prior to its last contest at DaSilva Memorial Field, highlighting the multiple achievements accomplished on-and-off the field during their four-year careers.
Declan Swartwood and Mike Madsen led the St. John's offense, each finishing with three goals and two assists. Joe Madsen scored two goals, increasing his active goal-scoring streak to 31 games. Four other Johnnies scored in the contest, including Colin Bosak, who notched his first career goal in the third quarter after winning a faceoff.
Freshman goalkeeper Brody Agres kept the Red Storm in the game throughout the entire contest, recording 13 saves in the loss against Denver.
Saturday's showdown will mark the 13th game of the season for the Wildcats, and their fifth tilt at home. Villanova heads into Saturday's matchup having lost its first conference game of the 2019 campaign to Georgetown on April 14. The Wildcats won its first two BIG EAST contests of the season against Marquette on March 30, and at then-ranked No. 10 Denver on April 14.
Villanova is led in scoring by sophomore attackman Corey McManus with 26 goals and nine assists while freshman Matt Campbell has 25 goals. Sophomore Keegan Khan and junior Connor Kirst are the top two facilitators for Villanova, combining for 36 assists. Freshman goalkeeper Will Vitton has posted an 11.66 goals against average with 108 saves and a .512 save percentage in 531 minutes of action this season.
Villanova Head Coach Mike Corrado took over the program in the summer of 2006 after being named associate head coach one year earlier. In his nine seasons at VU, Tierney has amassed an impressive 106-88 overall record and a .544 overall winning percentage (.592 in BIG EAST contests).
The 2018 season marked the seventh-straight year Villanova has qualified for the BIG EAST tournament; the most of any current member in the league. The Wildcats received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, marking the third time in program history Villanova entered the national tournament. Corrado led the Wildcats to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 2009 and then again in 2011.
Saturday's contest will mark the 21st overall meeting between the two programs. The Wildcats have won each of the last four contests against the Red Storm. The Johnnies recorded the game-winning goal in extra time in their last victory over Villanova on April 19, 2014, winning 11-10.
