The match between the Johnnies and Highlanders is scheduled for 7 p.m. this evening

The St. John's volleyball team returns to the Tri-State area to take on NJIT at 7 p.m. this evening after playing a loaded field at the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic.

The contest between St. John's and NJIT will be available to live stream on the Highlanders Sports Network.

This evening's match will mark the third all-time meeting between the Highlanders and Red Storm and the first since 2012. St. Johns won each of the previous two matches in straight sets.

The Red Storm will look to snap its three-match skid in tonight's contest with the Highlanders. The Red Storm suffered its first loss of the year last Friday night at the hands No. 13 Washington before enduring a pair of setbacks to Hawaii and No. 21 San Diego.

Despite their recent losses, the Johnnies put forth a stellar effort against nationally ranked opponents. The Red Storm also took powerhouse team Hawaii to a fifth set before falling, 3-2.

Senior Amanda Sanabia earned a spot on the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic All-Tournament Team following her performance over the weekend.

Erica Di Maulo and Rachele Rastelli were key components to the Red Storm's offense during the tournament, as Di Maulo dished out a combined 91 helpers, bumping her career-total to 3,891 to rank fourth on the all-time list. Rastelli recorded a team-high 37 kills in three matches for the Johnnies.

The Highlanders enter tonight's matchup with a 0-3 record and are in search of their first win since October 9, 2018, when they defeated North Alabama in straight sets.

Senior Liz Benson and freshman Sarah Merritt have paced the way offensively for NJIT, as Benson has tallied 79 assists while Merritt has racked up a team-high 27 kills in three matches.
